Job Description

The duties of this position are as follows:

  • Manages Johnson County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Nutrition Program according to goals and objectives identified in the Area Plan; specifies indicators for outcomes, collects data, analyzes, and reports findings; develops, maintains, and updates a policy and procedure manual for Nutrition Program; provides direction for staff to attain Nutrition Program outcomes and outputs of the Area Plan; provides measurements and methods used to evaluate the Quality Assurance Plan; evaluates the results of the Quality Assurance plan and makes program changes.
  • Provides management oversight for the nutrition program budgets; collaborates in the development of  the program budget as a part of the AAA Area Plan and Revisions; provides accurate financial reports and data in collaboration with the AAA management team to allow for timely analysis of program revenue and expenditures; coordinates to assure accurate financial reports are submitted to the Kansas Department on Aging and Disability Services; determine food service capital equipment needs, delivery vehicle fleet needs; investigates available equipment/vehicles, obtains quotes, negotiates, and purchases; oversees maintenance of commercial food service equipment and delivery vehicle fleet; develops RFP’s such as for the CHAMPSS program and Food Service Provider; follows RFP process and procures vendors; manages and negotiates agreements with nutrition site community partners.
  • Manages organized system of statistical record-keeping which complies with federal, state, and county regulations; supervises the development and maintenance of statistical reporting procedures to assure completeness and accuracy of reports submitted to county, state and federal regulatory agencies; manages an accurate system to verify eligibility of clients served; ensures an inventory control system is maintained for all food and equipment.
  • Assures quality food production and service which complies with state and local food safety and sanitation regulations; oversees the food service management company contract; ensures menus are compliant with federal and local program requirements; reviews food safety and sanitation procedures in central and satellite kitchens.
  • Enhances Nutrition Program's public image; develops public and private sector partners relating to the delivery of nutrition services within the county, ie County Extension, SHARE Program, Farmers Markets; provides information to the community regarding the Nutrition Program; makes contacts with local organizations and agencies that will enhance the service and delivery of nutrition services; coordinates with public information officer regarding media releases; promotes and develops community based nutritional services for older adults; develops appropriate nutrition education programming; develops appropriate nutrition outreach activities; enhances Neighborhood Center Program that will attract older adults; provide opportunities for consumer input.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in food service management, human services, public administration, dietetics, nutrition, social work; or relevant field; three (3) years' of experience in management, food service, hospitality or relevant experience are required.

 

A Master's degree in food service management, human services, public administration, dietetics, nutrition, social work, or relevant field; two (2) years leading, directing, supervising or coordinating the work of others and a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the State of Kansas are preferred.
