Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified candidates to fill a Quality Improvement Specialist position at our Mission office. This position will work as a part of the Quality and Integrity Team and will have primary responsibility for medical and clinical documentation review to ensure applicable billing and regulatory documentation requirements are met. First review of applications will be January 10th.
Job duties may include the following:
• Conduct pre-billing claim reviews and other audits of agency billing activity according to established claim review procedures; monitor and review coding accuracy, review records to ensure appropriate supportive documentation is maintained; record, track, and review audit results to identify opportunities for improvement; make recommendations and implement plans to address identified opportunities;
• Assist in the development of and coordination of educational programs; participate in the delivery of compliance and medical coding training for intra-agency service providers and other staff; respond to coding related questions from staff; monitor changes in the industry, including determinations and interpretations made by federal and state agencies, the American Medical Association, and other applicable entities.
• Maintain professional knowledge and expertise in the area of medical coding; make recommendations and implement plans to address identified opportunities; coordinate and assist other staff with projects and assignments in the area of corporate compliance and quality.
Job Requirements
Associate's degree in medical coding or relevant field; three (3) years of health insurance/medical billing, coding or relevant experience, with an emphasis on Medicaid and Medicare billing; and working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and data bases are required. Experience may be substituted for education.
Certified Medical Coder (CPC/CPC-A or CCS/CCS-P) is required.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Mental Health requires OIG exclusion checklist review.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
