Job Description

Johnson County Department of Health and Environment is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of an Outreach Nurse. The position is located in Mission, KS and provides excellent benefits, including health insurance, wellness programs and discounts, retirement programs, and various other discount programs. The position is located at 11875 S Sunset Drive, Suite 300, Olathe, KS 66061. 

 

This position will lead and manage the outreach services in the Community Health Division.

 

This position will remain open until Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

 

Duties include:

 

  • Ensure an effective and efficient delivery of the Senior Outreach program, Maternal Child Health Outreach program and Targeted Case Management Program goals and objectives; oversees the implementation, coordination and evaluation of program and grant initiatives and services; completes reports and evaluations in a timely manner; coordinates and supervises program staff; monitors program budgets to ensure financial responsibility.
  • Oversees the assessment of community needs for awareness and behavioral change related to matters of community health and welfare; reviews and approves the needs analysis which is used to determine new and ongoing areas of opportunity that support strategies and initiatives; reviews information regarding local and national trends and developments; makes recommendations for enhancements and new initiatives.
  • Collaborates, trains, and builds positive relationships with peers, community, Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), other local health departments, departmental and community organizations and agencies. Convenes community groups as needed.
  • Recruits, hires and trains staff on grant and program procedures as needed; coaches staff to ensure professional development. Participates in Department required trainings and Emergency Preparedness trainings and activities.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Public Health, Social Work, Public or Public administration is required. Vocational, Associate’s, or bachelor’s degree in nursing or other Nursing program that meets the requirements for the Registered Nurse license are also required. Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas and two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.

 

Master's degree in nursing, Public Health, Social Work, Public or Public administration is preferred. 

 

Five (5) years in public health field is also preferred.
