Job Description

  • Manage and maintain Personnel filing/e-filing systems, ensuring records are secure and easily accessible; Maintain hiring/separation, promotional, and reassignment process documents; Prepare, process, and maintain various administrative documents, including reports, memos, notices, correspondence and forms; Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive and confidential law enforcement, applicant, and employee background information and documents.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Personnel Division, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and handling in-person inquiries; Schedule and coordinate meetings, fingerprint appointments and events; Maintain the agency organizational chart.
  • Assist the public by providing information regarding Sheriff's Office services, employment verification, and hiring processes; Respond to requests for records, reports, or other information in accordances with applicable laws and regulations; Compile monthly/yearly statistics; Prepare reports and provide statistical data to Sheriff's Office personnel and the Civil Service Board.
  • Create and manage job postings in iCIMS; Utilize various application systems, tracking and communicating with applicants; Facilitate long form applications and civil service testing; Enter and maintain accurate data in Sheriff's Office databases; Responsible for managing the onboarding process and completing all new hire paperwork across multiple web platforms; Enroll new deputies into the KLETC Satellite Academy.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment.

Job Requirements

Required: (experience may be substituted for degree)

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in Administrative Support or clerical position.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or related.
  • Experience in public sector or law enforcement setting.
  • Basic understanding of Human Resource functions. 

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Other specified testing may vary by Department/Agency.
