Job Description

Duties include:

  • Coordinates and directs approximately 800 Home-Delivered (Meals on Wheels) program volunteers in providing services to homebound seniors; coordinates daily volunteer services for 50+ routes; develops new and maintains existing routes for efficient meal delivery; administers appropriate routes and mapping to distribute routes proportionately; disseminates information to volunteers to facilitate performance of their duties; completes routes when needed.
  • Evaluates the volunteer program and modifies the program to meet needs; mediates client, volunteer, and delivery issues; maintains volunteer databases to facilitate task performance. tracks compliance with automobile insurance, driver's license, and other required documentation.
  • Collaborates with the department/agency to source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.); interviews volunteer and ensures that they are appropriately matched with opportunities within their skillset and organization.
  • Ensures proper orientation and training for new and existing volunteers to utilize their strengths and provides tools to help make them successful; maintains and updates material used for volunteer training.
  • Keeps detailed records of volunteers' information and assignments; ensures the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated.
  • Creates community awareness for volunteerism through public speaking engagements, community and networking events; disseminates information for upcoming actions and events; completes orientation and trainings; provides information to volunteers.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' experience in the coordination and scheduling of people or events, to include organizational, administrative and public speaking skills are required.

 

Education can substitute for experience.

 

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, gerontology, or relevant social or human service field; one (1) year experience working with the Older Adults or other special needs population; five (5) years' experience managing a large volunteer services program; expertise maintaining a Facebook page, Twitter account, and creating You Tube videos' and proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, & Publisher are preferred.
