Serve as the Systems Electronics Administrator and is the primary point of contact/coordinator for all Sheriff’s Office building security electronics and fire/life safety issues to ensure continued systems reliability and operation:
Functions as the primary technical resource and advises Sheriff’s Office Command Staff and personnel in the areas of computerized facility security and fire/life safety systems, including: Programmable Logic Controls (PLC), systems control panels and touch screen terminals, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), intercom/paging, security scan card access, computerized fire alarm detection and suppression systems.
Customize configuration and programming of Human/Machine Interface (HMI) software used in the operation of touch screen control terminals.
Customize configuration and programming of PLC systems using software to modify operating logic of security equipment in support of HMI software.
Develop, implement and maintain systems control programming of Sheriff’s Office building fire detection and suppression systems to ensure compliance with National Fire Protection Association 72 rules (NFPA-72) and state and local fire codes.
Develop, implement and maintain SQL databases and verify scheduled SQL maintenance functions used to record and archive operational and alarm history in Detention Center ADM servers.
Manage archival and secure storage of historical data from IMS programs and all electronic files, including current and past versions of program data for HMI programs, PLC, CCTV, fire intercom systems.
Administer and support CCTV systems and associated digital recording systems.
Advise Sheriff’s Office Command Staff in developing, documenting and policy and procedure recommendations which support the safety and security of all Sheriff’s Office Jails, buildings and/or properties.
Implement Predictive Maintenance Procedures regarding the security and fire/life safety policies of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Administer preventative maintenance schedules to help ensure essential security and life safety equipment remains reliable and extends its useful service life.
Manages personnel resources to meet operational needs. Authorize the deployment of Systems Electronic Technicians to various work sites and/or projects as needed in both normal and emergency situations.
Provide supervision to Systems Electronic Technician Staff to include the completion of performance appraisals. Recruit, screen and hire Systems Electronic Technician Staff.
Responsible for developing and/or scheduling training for Systems Electronic Technician Staff.
Participate in budget planning, and implementation regarding all Sheriff’s Office Systems Electronic Technology.
Provide initial point of contact 24 hours, 7 days per week support for Sheriff’s Office operators of technology-based electronic security and fire/life safety systems.
Troubleshoot and repair all end user problems involving touch screen control panels, graphic control panels, and wireless PDA control units and related integrated electronic systems.
Troubleshoot network communications issues involving wireless and Ethernet components of security, fire/life safety equipment.
Respond to security and fire/life safety related user issues which affect normal operations and the safety and security of the detention centers and Sheriff’s Office buildings.
Investigate and coordinate response to facility-related work order requests by employees
Conduct testing and preventative maintenance on fire/life safety related systems.
Select and monitor contracted work product. Inspect and assess work quality to ensure contractors comply with bid specifications.
Develop bid specifications for both service and supply contracts for systems electronics related projects.
Investigate facility related work order request by employees and/or public.
Consult with Sheriff’s Office Command Staff regarding service and supply contracts for systems electronics related projects.
Associate degree, with two (2) years’ experience supervising technical work related to planning, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting security/safety electronic systems and programs. Five years of experience in Installation and programming of PLC systems, fire alarm systems, Touch screen control interface systems, CCTV systems, card access systems and intercom/paging systems.
Preferred Job Requirements: Knowledge of public sector. Ten years of experience in Installation and programming of PLC systems, fire alarm systems, Touch screen control interface systems, CCTV systems, card access systems and intercom/paging systems.
