Johnson County Mental Health Center is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Nursing Manager.  This position is responsible for the administrative and clinical supervision of a nursing team that provides a range of services to children and adults with behavioral health needs.  The schedule is typically Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm, but may change to meet the needs of our clinics and clients.  First review of applications will be October 17.

Job Description

Job duties includes:

  • Directs the work of the nursing services team to ensure compliance with State and Federal program requirements and grant guidance for the various services in the division; analyzes guidelines and activities for nursing services based on requirements, trends, and evidence-based practice and determines the need for additional protocols or updating of current ones; consults with other departments to assure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and the implementation of evidence-based practices and guidelines; assesses and evaluates recommendations from other staff to assure efficient and effective service delivery across the team
  • Provides direct supervision of Nursing Supervisors; meets regularly with staff to oversee the day-to-day provision of services; trains staff in skills required for job tasks; monitors staff performance and provides supervision and guidance to problem solve; supports ongoing staff professional development; responds to client or collaterals' complaints regarding service delivery.
  • Directs and oversees the Infection Control and Medication Assisted Treatment programs; directs and oversees the medication management program, including the Basic Medication training for all Case Managers.
  • Supports maximizing fee revenues through the development of internal practices and procedures to support maximum and efficient use of clinical staff time in the direct provision of client services; identifies program and grant opportunities to increase fee or other revenues in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • Collaborates and builds positive relationships with all Center management staff, senior management of other county departments, hospitals and other community health providers, schools, community organizations, and businesses in order to enhance and improve service delivery and to improve the overall health and well-being of the Center’s clients.

Job Requirements

Associates degree in nursing or relevant field, licensed as a Registered Nurse in Kansas; five (5) years of direct nursing experience; and valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.

 

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or relevant field; two (2) years of mental health nursing experience; and five (5) years of clinical supervision of a major clinical program ( 25 employees or more); and one year leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others preferred.

 

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

 

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
