Johnson County Mental Health Center (JCMHC) is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Emergency Services Team Leader (Screen and Assessment) within the Emergency Services Division. As a Community Mental Health center in the state of Kansas, JCMHC serves as a gate keeper for the state hospital system. Also, since 2020 JCMHC and Olathe Medical Center have partnered to provide high quality care to those in need of a behavioral health assessment when presenting to the Emergency Department or a medical unit. In addition to these two sources of screens and assessments this team also assists with assessments for our justice involved youth and adults experiencing mental health crises. Screens and assessments are completed to best identify the most appropriate level of care and supports for an individual; a process we hold in high esteem. This position oversees Competency Evaluation efforts to ensure proper assessment of individuals’ competency to stand trial. This team is comprised of both full time and part time/prn clinicians that cover 24 hours a day 365 days a year. This position is one of 8 Team Leaders in the Emergency Services Division and reports to a Deputy Division Director.
The Team Leader’s routine schedule will be M-F, 8-5p. However, the role will require some flexibility outside of normal work hours to accommodate other obligations such as meetings or trainings. Application review will begin on May 15, 2026.

Job Requirements
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other Human Services Field and Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure at the master's level in the area of focus is required. A KS/MO driver's license and acceptable driving record are also required.
Three (3) years of clinical experience working with persons with a serious mental illness or relevant experience; One (1) year leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others; and one (1) year of experience working in a community based service environment or relevant experience are required.
Kansas Behavioral Sciences at the clinical level and previous supervisory or leadership experience are preferred.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
